Letter of support to Geri

Preamble
I still find it surprising that unintentional character limits exist on the web in this day and age (read: fuck ur msg system Tumblr :P ).  But me aside.

I guess I’ll make an “open letter” of this.  On the one hand, I know I’m not your favourite follower, Geri; on the other, I have the benefit of a pseudo-anonymous internet and oceans between us to buffer my benevolent intent from scorn, and it equally buffers you from caring if this really does just annoy you.

But, on the chance that it could help:

Regarding your latest reflection,
I must say, I’m not a stranger to that feeling of listlessness. In my experience, it’s a feeling that requires some kind of action to break (you have to DO something). 

Talking about things is always the right first step, but that’s all it is - step 1.

I recall you mentioning at some point that you didn’t go as far in school as you would like. 

I see you to be a gifted communicator, you clearly have marketing talent, and if I didn’t know any better, I’d ask if you were a ghostwriter for glamour models and suicide girls.  At the risk of sounding technical, your knowledge of art and various forms of entertainment franchises, culture and people in general (from manga / anime to ezines, glamour modelling, Irish / UK / Japanese culture, psychology, possibly body modification culture, the struggles that face artists in general etc.), it all strikes me as incredibly unique and useful for someone looking to find a career, even just doing things like what you do already - blogging!

But even if not as that, I really believe that just going back to school and finishing, in whatever strikes your interest, would make you feel better. You would feel accomplished, and the nagging feeling that you didn’t live up to the expectations placed upon you would evaporate, potentially lifting a huge burden off your back.

Of course, if all that’s true, you could just as easily put your foot down and say “To Hell with conventions!” ;)

Whatever your response(s) to this feeling, I think that you have all the power and ability you need to get where you want to be. And you don’t need to know where that is, just how it feels. The feeling alone is enough to lead you, even if you define it in what it doesn’t feel like.
